Rewind Button- The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Are You Experienced?

I was very excited to listen to this album. I have never really listened to Jimi before but of course his legend proceeds him. I was actually shocked that I did in fact know several of his songs including the very popular Foxy Lady and Fire. I have normally said that I preferred the albums where the songs weren’t cohesive and had very different sounds, but in the case of this album I actually liked the flow and similarity in each song. Guitar! Guitar! Guitar! 3rd Stone From the Sun was over six minutes and for the most part wordless, but it didn’t matter because I was just enjoying the awesomeness of the song. I don’t have too much to say about this album. I liked it, it is great road trip or camping music. See what other bloggers thought: Music Quest Be a River With Me Pimplomat

The Rewind Button- Beach Boys

It’s already Thursday and I had listened to the Beach Boys Pet Shop boys way back in February during a road trip to Seattle.  On this road trip I listened to Marvin Gaye, Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, and the Clash. Anyway, back to Beach Boys; Pet Sounds. I have extremely fond memories of the song Kokimo. My Dad used to blast it when he drove us to school about two years before he passed away. I can’t listen to that song without being transported back into his truck singing along with him. Naturally, I thought that I would enjoy the mellow sounds of Pet Sounds. However,  I was not a fan! I found the songs very boring on this  album, they did not sound like Kokimo at all.  I was itching to skip songs, but I forced myself to listen to the whole album and aside from two songs that are still popular, such as Sweet Caroline and Wouldn’t it Be Nice, I didn’t care for it. Kind of a short review. Want to read more? …

“The Rewind Button” & My First Beatles Album

At the suggestion and work of one of my fave bloggers Reb of Life Doesn’t Have to Suck my new years resolution has taken a bit of a twist. I now have eight other bloggers who will be listening to albums with me and reviewing them every Thursday. We’ll link to each other’s reviews and compare notes. I loved this idea because the same music is interpreted completely different for each person. The project, so aptly dubbed The Rewind Button will include the following blogs (and myself of course): Love As A Verb Life Doesn’t Have to Suck Grad Student By Day Pimplomat Renée Sylvestre-Williams” Sara Bynoe La Belle Vie MusicQwest Going in order of Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Albums of all time, our first review was The Beatles- Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. I LOVED this album! My first memory of the Beatles was my dad playing their music on his record player and remember not liking it. I prefered the top hits my mom was listening to, Paula Abdul, Michael Jackson, etc. So when I popped …
