Rewind Button- Rumours, Fleetwood Mac

12 Sep

I have been a terrible blogger lately! But Ryan and I jut moved into our first home, work has been crazy and I am in the thick of wedding planning so life has been pretty hectic lately.  Last week I was due to review Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

Rumours is the eleventh album and was released on 4 February 1977.  Rumours is Fleetwood Mac’s most successful release.  Keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie was married to bassist John McVie  but divorced before the album. Guitarist and vocalist Lindsey Buckingham and vocalist Stevie Nicks were in an off/on relationship. And their guitar guy Mick Fleetwood discovered his wife was having an affair with his best friend.

DRAMA! And you can hear the drama in the lyrics of his album. Most songs are abut heart ache, unreturned love, etc.

On to the music! I was listening to this album and song after song came on that I was like “Hey! I know this song!” Songs like Dreams, Don’t Stop, Go Your Own Way. At first I thought it was because these were hits but when we hit You Make Loving Fun I realized how I knew these songs. I am 90% sure my mum had this album and used to listen to it a lot when I was a kid.

Listen to the Wind Blow had a great beat and I really liked the song. But, as for the album as a whole- meh! If I was at someone’s house and they put it on as background music I would dig it, or if someone else suggested it for road trip music. But I wouldn’t listen to this album on my own.
