Bruce Springsteen. “The Boss”. The man who Michael Scott pretended to have tickets for in order to raise money for Crime Aid. I have never listened to much of his stuff before and though I know Keirstyn will shake her head, I am not a fan of this album. (Sorry Keir!) She lent me his latest album, Wrecking Ball, and I dug that one a lot.
Listening to this album was boring and the saxophone drove me nuts! A lot of the albums we have listened to with the exception of a few, have timeless sounds which is why they are on the list. This album throw me back to the days of big hair, stone washed denim, and high top sneakers. The songs here aren’t timeless in my opinion, they are hopelessly dated.
I liked the upbeat sound of Tenth Avenue Freeze Out but I found the lyrics kinda blah. I really identified with Night, a song about feeling trapped at work, wasting away your days doing the 9-5 and the night is when you live and experience life. I didn’t like the sound of the song, but the lyrics really got me. Made me wonder if anyone has any good covers out there so I Googled it. Unfortunately, in my quick perusal I only found covers of Because the Night from Darkness on the Edge of Town.
