Rewind Button- Miles Davis, Kind of Blue

6 Jun

I am behind on my own blog project! Of course life has been ridiculously busy but it’s time to get back on track.

I was excited to listen to Miles Davis because I love old school jazz. For years I have been listening to Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald while at work and I knew Davis was in the same genre. When the first song “So What” started I laughed because I have heard this song a million times. Not only on my online radio, but Starbucks loves to play this one.

This is a short album! Only five complete songs. Mind you these songs are 6-12 minutes long, but compared to the rest of the albums we have reviewed, or modern albums today this is short. There is a 50 anniversary collection album that has a bunch of alternate takes on the same songs, but as I am behind I decided to stick with the basics.

I enjoyed every minute of this album. It was nice not to have to focus on lyrics and just buckle down at work and listen to the relaxing smooth trumpet sounds.  I would love to see jazz make a major comeback, but I think that’s a silly dream.
