Rewind Button- Exile on Main Street, Rolling Stones

27 Apr

This was a crazy busy week at work and I’ve had to listen to this album quietly in front of a desk clacking away and pausing it to take phone calls; not exactly a rock and roll way to listen to a classic rock and roll album.

Some bands stand the test of time. The Beatles and Dylan for example have songs that will stand the test of time. Others like Marvin Gaye, Beach Boys and now Rolling Stones are dated and always will be.

The album opened with Rocks Off which actually wasn’t bad. I felt like the singer had a bit of a Dylan-esque twang top it. I enjoyed the country sound of Shake Your Hips it made me want to sit out on a truck bed in a field somewhere and Tumbling Dice actually had me bopping my head to the beat. I actually felt a little like I was in Dazed & Confused listening to that one.

But other than those few songs this album just ANNOYED me. Casino Boogie sounded like something you hear in the background at a dive bar and I was so happy when Sweet Virginia, Torn & Frayed and Turd on a Run were all over with.

Sorry Generation X, Rolling Stones are just not my thing!
