Marvin Gaye’s album Let’s Get it On was one I listened to way back in February on a road trip. This was a difficult album to listen to. I am not a smooth R&B kind of person and many of his songs revolved around sex. It definitely had a 70s sound but was not my cup of tea.
I did a little background research and it turns out this is Marvin Gaye’s 11th album. I also read that this album features introspective lyrics and socially-conscious themes about drug abuse, poverty, and the Vietnam War. Say what? Was I listening to the same album? Perhaps I tuned out the lyrics and only heard what I wanted?
I can’t wait to read what the other bloggers think because I think I missed the boat on this album. Next week is Exile on Main Street by The Rolling Stones.
